NotVeryTechie Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 Hi there I am new here and hope I am in the right place! I have a copy of FileMaker Pro 5 and a 6 upgrade. Will this run on Windows XP? And Vista? Hope you can help!
gdurniak Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 yes, we use FM5.5v2 and FM6v4 on both XP and Vista
NotVeryTechie Posted March 10, 2008 Author Posted March 10, 2008 Thank you! I have read in various places that FM6 won't run in Vista. Is there a special setting or something?
David McQueen Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 No special setting. Just make sure to do the upgrades. Vista problems in later versions of FMP I think come about in part because of the intense security validations that take place within the OS. The FMP 5-6 family is too dumb. It does not try to do things that it can't so it just works. I was surprised. I have a nutrition runtime program that I put into a chiropractor's office. It is in FMP 5.5. We loaded it up on Vista and it has worked ever since. On the Mac side, one of my clients has a huge system done in FMP 5-6. Some of their other systems had been moved to the 7-9 family. For the 7-9 systems, the FMP clients had to be upgraded immediately in concert with Leopard. The 5-6 system just kept on running. We are going to re-write it over the next few months. But they were in a panic that they would have to do it "yesterday".
