Newbies Carl VZ Posted March 20, 2008 Newbies Posted March 20, 2008 Hi. I want to import an excel spreadsheet full of data into FMP 9. Problem is, FMP only allows me to import records laid out as one in each row, with field names in the first row. My spreadsheet has field names in the first column, and each column contains a record. Anyone know of a way to get the data imported? Thanks, Carl
comment Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 Best way would be to transpose the data in Excel, then import.
Newbies Carl VZ Posted March 20, 2008 Author Newbies Posted March 20, 2008 Do you know of a way to do that short of manually moving the data in each cell?

Newbies Carl VZ Posted March 20, 2008 Author Newbies Posted March 20, 2008 Thanks for the good read. Didn't see where it addresses this particular issue though. Any suggestions out there?

-Queue- Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 Um, have you tried following the instructions? It should be a relatively simple copy/paste special (transpose).
Newbies Carl VZ Posted March 20, 2008 Author Newbies Posted March 20, 2008 Perhaps I'm not understanding what I read, or missed something in the document. My question is how to import records that are laid out vertically in an Excel spreadsheet rather than horizontally across the rows in a spreadsheet. The spreadsheet contains field names in the first column, and each record is listed in one column, with the fields for each record in cells down the column, (rather than each field name listed across the top in rows, with each record listed across in a row). Thanks, Carl
Newbies Carl VZ Posted March 20, 2008 Author Newbies Posted March 20, 2008 YES! That worked. Was searching for that feature in MS Excel help, and of course, it wasn't listed. Thanks! Problem solved. Carl
