Niet32 Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 I am at a loss of what is causing my databases to randomly crash when exporting. I am doing nothing different when I ran other FM versions, it just started to happen when I upgraded. I am not sure if it's a 9.0 issue but like I said it never happened before. Anyone have any thouhts? Thanks

LaRetta Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 Wow, what an attitude, Bruce! Hey Pat, you say 9.0. Have you applied all the updaters? I haven't heard of exporting causing crashing in vs. 9 but what are you exporting (to what file type, how many records etc). A bit more information WILL help but I doubt you need to be reminded that the help is free; after all, we ALL are aware of how Stephen provides a great location where we all help each other for nothing! There is another thing to consider here: vs. 9 is more thorough in checking for inconsistencies when it scans. Try opening each file (if there are more than one) and File > Save As first. If these are freshly converted files, maybe they are getting hung up upon initial scan when opening. :wink2:
Niet32 Posted April 11, 2008 Author Posted April 11, 2008 Bruce - wow...must have missed manners day or all the rain in WA has you down. BTW My company supports sponsors of FM Forums - we are 500+ strong. It only happens on summary reports being exported into Excel. However, it's not a particular report. I do have 9.0 v2. I will update to v3 and let you know if that helps any. I don't think v3 has any fixes for this but you never know. I wish I had more details but it has me baffled because it is so random. Thanks LaRetta
_henry_ Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 Hi Niet, Did you export it through a network? Sometimes, if the network has problem or down, it will crash...
DarrylO Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 I just encountered the same issue today while attempting to export 424 records to Excel on a local drive. It happens after clicking the Continue button in the Excel export dialog. I tried it twice. Both times I named the worksheet and left the other fields blank. Windows XP FMPA 9.0v3
