Is there any way to insert a new record into a portal without either leaving the layout you are on or opening a new window with the portal table in it and inserting the record?

I want to be able to insert the portal record, but do not want to interupt the user in data entry.

If you script the creation of related records, you can go to another layout (in a new window or the same window), create a record, and return without the user being aware of it. You can also script record creation through a relationship. Or you can allow creation of related records through the portal's relationship.

The problem is that once you leave the current layout and go to another layout or open a new window to insert the record, when you return focus to the original layout, you are brought to the top of the page rather than where you were working (in this case further down the page).

This disrupts data entry.

Perhaps you would be better suited for one of these methods.
