Ron Hoagland Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 What I am trying to do is create a list on the left side of the layout(a portal)of all the invoices of a specific customer. The right side will show the preview of the invoice chosen from the list. This is done by choosing the invoice you want and setting the invoice number into a invoice global field table and using lookup to populate the rest of the info into the global field table. All of this is located on a "Invoice Tab" which is on a layout based on the Customer table. Ok, now the problem is that once the info is in the invoice global field table and it shows up on the right side it wont show any of the line items in the portal based on the relationship to the invoice global table. What I am thinking is that because its all on a layout based on the Customer Table it won't show the relationship to the lineitems in the invoice tab part. If I move this whole thing over to another layout that is based on the Invoice Table everything works fine. Do I have to do a workaround to get it to show the lineitems? or is this a limitation based on the layout? Or is it just easier to just redesign the whole thing?
aldipalo Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 Take a look at this example. You should be able to customize it to your needs. http://www.nightwing.com.au/FileMaker/demos8/demo808.html
Ron Hoagland Posted July 8, 2008 Author Posted July 8, 2008 Unfortunately this is not quite what I am looking for. Its very similar. What I am wanting to do is show one customer record with a Tab element in the middle of the layout. Tabs would be 'Account Info', 'Invoice Info', and 'Notes'. On the 'Invoice' tab, left side has list (portal) of all related invoices to that customer. Right side would then have a preview of the invoice based on the invoice chosen from the list. My problem is that when the invoice is chosen it shows the invoice info fine on the right side. It WON'T show any information in the lineitem portal related to the invoice. All of that is blank. I need that info to show also. I hope that makes better sense of what I am trying to do.
