ssaucedo Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 (edited) In FM you can create a script that will open a file. But how can you create a script that will take you to a folder, a path say on a network, a type of "Go To" action, as opposed to opening a file. As of the time of this edit, there were 39 views and no replies, am I to interpret this as this is not possible in FM? Edited August 13, 2008 by Guest
bcooney Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 OK, what is the goal here besides a file open dialog?
ssaucedo Posted August 13, 2008 Author Posted August 13, 2008 To direct the user to a place on the network not a specific file.
bcooney Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 What if you write a script to open a file in a network folder, knowing that the file will never be there, so it'll fail? Will this give you a File Open dialog in the correct folder? (just thinking out loud).
ssaucedo Posted August 13, 2008 Author Posted August 13, 2008 thanks for the url suggestion but it doesnt work.
ssaucedo Posted August 13, 2008 Author Posted August 13, 2008 I maybe doing something wrong but I the open file option only allows the opening of FM files.
comment Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 thanks for the url suggestion but it doesnt work. It works for me, so... (I never know what to reply to "it doesn't work"). Applescript is also another possibility.
ssaucedo Posted August 13, 2008 Author Posted August 13, 2008 can you give me an example of the path, maybe i am missing a , - or something
comment Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 I dropped a folder into Firefox and copied the URL from there. It looks like: "file:///Users/myUserName/Desktop/FolderName/"
ssaucedo Posted August 18, 2008 Author Posted August 18, 2008 Perfect that helped alot, was not including the file/// thanks
