installing supercontainer with FMS9A

Featured Replies

Hello I'm a FM (and supercontainer) newbie.

Right now I'm trying to install SC and check out if it solves my issues before buying a license. I want to use it with FMS9A and IWP so I have (as described in the documentation) copied the whole folder into my server and double-clicked on installer.jar. it took less than a second to instal it. I have restarted the server but when I point to http://localhost/supercontainer I get a HTTP error 404.

FMS works fine, I can successfully connect to http://localhost/fmi/iwp/res/iwp_home.html.

Am I missing something?

You must add a portnumber to view the SC in your browser, e.g.

http://localhost:8080/SuperContainer

Other ports you can try is 80 (SC v2) or 8020 (when running locally)

The 's' and 'c' need to be capitalized, so the URL should be like this:

http://localhost/SuperContainer

Peter - in version 2 of SuperContainer, if you use the installer that comes with it, we set it up run it on port 80 passing through Apache or IIS. For version 1 which didn't have the installer, you're correct that it runs on port 8080.

Hello Jasse,

I tried to use capital S and C but the result is the same: HTTP error 404.

Any other idea?

Thanks for your help. I appreciate it

Thanks Jesse,

I have just spoke with Val; we went through the installation process and he set everything up. Now I can connect to SuperContainer @ http://localhost/SuperConatiner/

The issue I have experienced was related to the fact that my Win2003 Server is italian version and actually the installer didn't install anything.

Thanks again, I'm going to check SC out and I hope it's going to solve my issues.

Have a nice day.

Hello Jesse,

Can I conclude then that when I check in the browser after running the installer, I should be able to see it WITHOUT a port reference:

http://localhost/SuperContainer

I did use the installer on a Windows2003 Small Business Server config, and can only see SC when I include port 8080 in te URL.

Also the call from FMP clients need the port number included.

Without portnumber I get the 404 error.

There was no error message running the installer (as far as I remember ) and I do see it indeed in the correct folder in FMServer, web server and WPE server are running correctly. Possibly port 80 was already in use on this server (Outlook). Will the installer then use the next default of 8080 ?

Yes, this should work as you expect. If you're still having to put in port 8080 then maybe there was a problem with installation; please call Val in our office to get help.
