Heeter Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 (edited) Hi all, I am trying FM9Pro. Currently we have FM6. I updated all the DB's from 6 through FM9. Now FM9 is asking for a username/password, whereas FM6 only asked for a password alone. I don't know what to put in as the username. Anything I try gives me a wrong password error. What can I do? Thanks Heeter Edited August 30, 2008 by Guest
aesquer Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 A couple years ago, I had a similar problem: I designed a database in FM 6 trial, but when we bought the software we wound up with version 7, which then asked for the username and password. Our solution was to leave the username blank and just enter the password. That also worked when I tried the same database out in the version 9 trial. Have you tried that yet?

IdealData Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 After conversion the user name is blank, or optionally you can use the password. You are advised to update the user names and passwords asap.
Heeter Posted August 30, 2008 Author Posted August 30, 2008 Thanks for your responses. I did try leaving it empty, to no avail. I will read those links see if I am missing something. Heeter
Heeter Posted September 1, 2008 Author Posted September 1, 2008 Would it help if I remove all passwords in my FileMaker 6 and then update the DB to FM9. Would FM9 still ask for a account/password then? Thanks Heeter
m3nme Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 Heeter, Use the password in all caps for both the user name and password. Hope this helps.
