Andrew5 Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 I have what is I'm sure a simple problem: I have updated a solution but the prior version exists on a second computer and now has many records. All of the fields, relationships, etc. are the same. I've added a few simple buttons and changed fonts and sizes only. There are about 12 fields and one portal. After placing a clone on the second computer, how do I get the records from the prior solution to the current? I have tried some import and exporting, but I do not get a correct result. Thanks.
aldipalo Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 How many tables are there? You need to go to file->import->file Highlight the original file. Then check the corresponding table and add new records. Make sure all your fields match. This must be done on each table one at a time. There in lies the beauty and simplicity of a 'Separation Model' vs having tables and UI all in the same file. If this isn't what you are asking please explain further. hth
Andrew5 Posted September 3, 2008 Author Posted September 3, 2008 It was surprisingly easy, thank you. -Are you hinting that FM can have the data separate from the database structure?
aldipalo Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Yes. It is referred to as the separation model. There is a section for it on the main page. There's a lot of Pros and Cons, but, if your project is a continual work in motion, like mine, it pays off in the long run.
