How to import records to clone?

Featured Replies

I have what is I'm sure a simple problem: I have updated a solution but the prior version exists on a second computer and now has many records. All of the fields, relationships, etc. are the same. I've added a few simple buttons and changed fonts and sizes only. There are about 12 fields and one portal. After placing a clone on the second computer, how do I get the records from the prior solution to the current? I have tried some import and exporting, but I do not get a correct result. Thanks.

How many tables are there? You need to go to file->import->file

Highlight the original file. Then check the corresponding table and add new records. Make sure all your fields match. This must be done on each table one at a time.

There in lies the beauty and simplicity of a 'Separation Model' vs having tables and UI all in the same file.

If this isn't what you are asking please explain further.

It was surprisingly easy, thank you.

-Are you hinting that FM can have the data separate from the database structure?

Yes. It is referred to as the separation model. There is a section for it on the main page.

There's a lot of Pros and Cons, but, if your project is a continual work in motion, like mine, it pays off in the long run.
