DB_Noob Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 I'm at a loss. I've got a customer that is using one of our FM developed DBs and uses Lotus Notes for his email. We put in the email function that opens automatically the user's email. This person's e-mail setting (internet options>programs>email) is set to lotus notes, HOWEVER, each time he presses the email button in the FM DB, it pops up what I believe is an MS Outlook set-up wizard. It is asking to choose a profile name, or create a new which becomes a MS outlook wizard, VERSUS, opening up lotus notes. Any ideas?:? Thanks!
mr_vodka Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Double check your settings in the system default email options for URL MailTo. It can be found under folder options --> File Type.
DB_Noob Posted October 6, 2008 Author Posted October 6, 2008 (edited) Thanks for the idea. However, I think he might have that set correctly because I had him visit our website to click on an email link and it opened up correctly in lotus notes. I'll have him check still (he is in southern cal versus me being in norther cal) but I am pretty sure his is set up correctly. Perhaps a compatibility issue between FM 8.0 and his lotus notes? Again, any help/ideas would be awesome!!! Thanks again! Edited October 6, 2008 by Guest
Vaughan Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Lotus Notes is not compatible with FMP's Send Mail script step. My organisation uses Notes and any process that needs to send mail has been re-written to use a mail plug-in instead of thr Send Mail script step. It may be possible to use VBScript or something to control Notes instead of using a mail plug-in. I didn't explore this because we're x-plat with both Macs and PCs. Sorry the news isn't better.
comment Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 How about using the Open URL[] script step with a mailto: protocol?
Vaughan Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 That will most certainly work work, but for what we needed to do (an enquiries handing system with centralised e-mail) the plug-in was the best option and the solution created a better system. : Plus I didn't have to worry about text limits with the Open URL protocol etc.
