As I am new to Filemaker I stumbled over a problem that I can't find any topics or help in FM.

How do I in a correct way setup a layout so it matches I.E. an MS Word A4 document. I mean what is important to think about with the header, body and footer?

And even more I need to have three A4 size pages on one layout as I will send them as PDF files to the costumer. Can some body please direct me to a topic or any instructions for this.

Thanks,

Mats

Drag the Body part down until it's as big as you want.

You might also want to read up on FMP's sliding/printing feature. It might be your next question. }:(

Well dragging the body as long as I want did not do it for me. I still have to test my way forward to get a total of 3 pages. For the moment I get 2 - 4 pages working,, hehe

But my main question is that sadly one of the pages uses two columns. I don't think there is a way to fix that? To have two normal and one with two columns on the same layout?

But I have to ask }:(

Well, that's the way it's done, so try again.

The fields have to be enlarged to fill the body part space, and then the sliding/printing feature is used to shrink the page up if there isn't enough text to fill it all.

Regarding the multiple columns; when you're getting into page layouts as complex as this it might be time to look at another alternative (or change the expectations of the report to what FMP can natively do). This could mean merging to a Word document, or printing multiple layouts to a single pdf file.

FMP does have some surprises, so play around with multiple columns (compare the across and down options, it does different things) and including leading and trailing grand summaries, and other summary parts.

Yes, I said that, but not in those exact words... :

Your words were more explict.

There's this old joke I tell my kids to annoy them (because they've heard it so many times)... you get somebody to to ask you "What makes the Irish so good at telling jokes?" and as they start to ask, you interrupt them and say "Timing!"
