Newbies MikeTheDataGuy Posted November 20, 2008 Newbies Posted November 20, 2008 Hi, I'm new here but I hope to learn a lot of FMP 9.0. I'm a tech guy for a local company and we've just acquired a massive database of around 10 million records. The file size in raw data is around 10GB, so it's pretty huge. I'm very familiar with MS SQL and MS Access BUT Access can only hold up to 2GB file sizes, so I had no choice but to go for FMP 9.0 since there's no file size limit. I tested a database of around 31,000 records by simply creating a table, importing the CSV file into the table (matching the field names, etc). It imports correctly BUT I cannot see the actual data (information). On the left side of my table it states: Total 31625. I can click on the "notebook" picture to goto the previous record, next record etc BUT nothing appears on the main screen. No fields, no text, just blank white page. Attached JPG is the screen shot. I clicked on Browse mode, form mode, all types of modes, View as list...etc What's wrong? Thanks Mike
Lee Smith Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 You don't have any fields on this layout. Hense, you will not be able to view data there. Go to the Left side, to the Rolordex, and see if there are any layout liste. If not, then go into layout mode, and check the Main Menu >> Layouts >> Set Layout Our Order, and see if there are other Layout tat are deselected. HTH Lee
Newbies MikeTheDataGuy Posted November 20, 2008 Author Newbies Posted November 20, 2008 I only have 1 layout selected .. the name of it is db. There are no other layouts. That's why this is confusing for me. Any other tips? Ideas?
Lee Smith Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Opening up Define Fields, and find where the fields are. Main Menu >> File >> Manage Database and look at the TO, there should be one with all of the fields, if so, then Go into the Layout Mode, and create a new layout based on that TO. You can also, in Layout Mode, grab the Field Tool, and drag a field on to the Body of the layout.
