Rec. Table A = Rec. Table B + Rec. Table C

Sorry for this maybe easy question, but don´t get the right answer.

How do I combine two databases into one new database?

Records from Table A should be a summary from both Records Table B and Records from Table C.

The record should be included in Table A as soon that a new Record in Table B or C is started.

Somehow I need an Instruction for Dummies.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

Can you expand you your question.

Is Table A a parent record of information that can also have children record information that is related to Table A.

Or is it that you have records in Tables B and C and you would also like Table A to have a duplicate?

Structure is the first thing to expand on. If you provide more details about the problem, then people in this forum (very smart minds here!!) can help you work though it.

Is this an epidemic notion, this is the 3rd or 4th time something like this dBase III thinking arrives to forum?

An answer is most likely given here:

...whether or not it fits your problem, is not easy to say - why are you thrifty with context and purpose, generalised questions gives only sporadic stabs in the dark?

Thank you for helping me out.

To be honest, I´m very new to Filemaker and my little project has just started. That´s the reason, why I was not more specific, cause I didn´t know better:

So here´s my explanation:

I have records in table A, table B, table C and so on.... Now I would like to have one layout (screen) where all the records of any table is displayed. I tried that with a portal, but this will show only the records of one table, right ?

Thanks

Please see this recent thread.

To reiterate the points of Søren and Comment ( in the post of Søren's link ), I guess the big question here is why are there 3 tables? What are A,B,C ? You may have a structural issue here but we dont know if do based on ABC.

Yes but related stuff/data might be tunneled in via the relations from further ahead.

Hi John

Thank you for sending me that thread. That was exactly what I planned to do - create a Union:-)

Somehow I will check another solution now.

Well thanks again for the time you spent ...
