FMS 10 Apple Firewall Blocking port 16000

Featured Replies

Hello,

It appears that there is no way to unblock specific ports on Apple's FireWall in Leopard.

I have my firewall set to "set access for specific services and applications". I have the FM related services listed there set to allow incoming connections. But port 16000 is still blocked. So use of the Admin console is blocked!

Has anybody solved this issue?

Thanks

Todd

Yo, Todd!!

If this is OS X Server, you can configure ports in the firewall servcies panel of the Server Admin Utility.

Hello Mr Blackwell.

I kinda figured you be lurking around this forum.

Unfortunately this is just regular old Leopard, not Server.

so no way around this huh?

Hey Todd.

IIRC I thought there used to be a command line work around for Leopard...

It appears that all that was required was a restart.

After restart, the port appears to be opening correctly. I think this has something to do with how the new Firewall works in Mac 10.5.1 and above.

The firewall now authorizes applications not ports. How this happens I am not sure, but it seems that when the server restarted the services that make up FMS were registered correctly.

Glad you got it working. It's pretty poorly implemenetd in my view. But it is improved from its initial configuration.
