Filemaker Server doesn't see MyODBC driver

Featured Replies

Hello,

I' need a data base shared through Filemaker Server 10 to be able to get some info from a MySql database on the company's network.

Test on my computer (Filemaker Pro Advanced 10) ???

1- installed MyODBC drivers

2- created the connection to the newtwork MySql database

3- Define the MySql database as en external source

Eveything ok.

On the server, point 1 and 2 ok. But when I remotely open the filemaker database that's shared on the server with my client and try to set the external datasource there is not ODBC database in the external sources menu.

Should I do something else ? Is it supposed to work at all ?

Thank you for your answer

Did you make sure that it was a system DSN ( not user DSN ) when setting up your DSN?

Are you on a 64 bit system / is your OS 64 bit?

This was the problem, thank you.

(32-bit system)

I'm having this issue with a 64 bit on Windows Server 2008.

I got the MySQL 64bit connector and connected my database trough Data Sources (System DSN). All working great, but...

The ODBC Checkboxn in FM Server 10 is greyed out. I assume this need to be checked?

There are no ODBC sources when I go to a Database and try and add a source.

Thanks for any help.

Just found the solution!!! Yipeee!

1) If the 64 bit MySQL ODBC driver is installed, uninstall it.

2) Install the 32 bit MySQL ODBC driver.

3) Do NOT use Control Panel / Admin Tools / Data Sources to define data sources.

4) Rather, go to the windowsSysWOW64 directory and run 'odbcad32.exe' directly from there to define data sources.

odbcad32.exe in windowsSysWOW64 looks exactly like the one in Control Panel / Admin Tools / Data Sources, but I'm believe it is the a 32 bit version and the one in Control Panel a 64 bit version.

Hey Tissot.

Great work! I was having the exact same problem and this has fixed it for me.

Many thanks for supporting the community.

Hi,

It seems that you solved a problem I am not able to come to end, so maybe you could provide the "missing key".

On a Windows Server 2003 64-bit machine we defined a 32-bit system DSN data source, going directly to windowsSysWOW64 directory and running 'odbcad32.exe'.

However in FM Pro 11 we can't see any available DSN.

How did you "instruct" Filemaker to see the DSN defined under windowsSysWOW64?

Our FM files are on a separate 32-bit machine, under FM 10 Server with Windows Server 2003.

Thanks a lot in advance,

Judit

Thank U so much. It works like a charm for me. Filermaker Server 10 on Win2k8 Server 64bit. MysqlServer 5.1 on XServe running 10.5.8. I've followed tissot's info. :

Thank you for figuring this out... I was worried at first... but this worked like a charm.

I didn't even need to install or uninstall anything. Just used the 32 bit driver that came with Windows 2008...
