July 23, 200916 yr Hi, Any thoughts on what might prevent a field formatted as a drop down list using a value list fail to "drop down" in browse mode? I know I modified it inadvertently however I have recreated the exact settings for the field based on a working backup but alas to no avail...the current version will still not work (are you wondering why I do not continue with the backup. There has been substantial modifications to the current db from the backup unfortunately and the daily backup from the last use was overwritten when I closed the inadvertently modified file...ahh the wonders of scripting ). Any thoughts? Thanks, Jack
July 23, 200916 yr Author Mods, Please move this query to the value list discussion..post to this forum in error Thanks
July 23, 200916 yr what might prevent a field formatted as a drop down list using a value list fail to "drop down" in browse mode? Check field control behavior. Is it checked to 'allow field to be entered in Browse mode?'
July 23, 200916 yr Author LaRetta... the field is checked to allow entry. Thanks for the suggestion! Back to more reviewing of the backup copy that works to see if I missed something. ;)
July 23, 200916 yr Can you explain specifically what you mean by fails to 'drop down'? Does it not open at all, open but close immediately, open but only display the first entry?
July 23, 200916 yr Author LaRetta, Problem is solved (not certain why/how but changing the "specify field for value list" option to "include all values" then back to "include only related values starting from XXXX DB" worked). Now to figure out why when the appropriate option is chosen on the drop down list the related data in other fields is not displayed (defaults to the first record in the drop down list for some reason). Jack P.S. in reference to your question, when clicking in the field formatted as a drop down list, the field would act like a regular edit box field only P.P.S. thanks for your interest in offering solutions to the problems... it is MUCH appreciated
