November 17, 200916 yr We sell many products. Some of them are a combination of other products. Each product has a cost and a markup. Example: Product A, Cost = 1.00 Product B, Cost = 2.50 Product C, Cost = Cost of Product A + Cost of Product B. This is the question. How do I perform a calculation from within the database like this?
November 17, 200916 yr You knew what is the content of product C. I will use several self-joined relationships and summarize prices. See example Products.fp7 Product.fp7.zip
November 17, 200916 yr I was picturing the need a bit differently than Peter. I saw grouping Products and not product pieces. This type of grouping happens a lot during sales and it works fine with pricing. But if you are tracking the individual inventory of each product and you sell Product C, use the Group field to decrease your A and B stock. Anyway, here's what I envisioned (attached) ... just another approach. NB: I didn't use auto-enter on the Cost field because I would assume that, if the price changed for A or B, C should update. February 5, 201015 yr Author Your example was very helpful. I am almost accomplishing what I need to do. One more question, because I think you'll know the answer. If product C is a combination of (2) of product A and (3) product B, how can I thrown in a multiplier to make the price of product C correct? Thank you in advance.
