Hey there,

I'm new to FM - is it possible to create a DB with FM, which I can set online like a webshop-system?

I have to decide to build a webshop in Flex or in FM and maybe FM is much easer to build a DB/Webshopsystem as in Flex!?

But I'm not sure if it's possible to build something like that in FM?

If it is, what do I need on the server-side? A special OS? Could I use Linux or I have to use a Windows-Webserver?

The Webshop is for products, which can be customize by the customers. Does FM supports a Scriptlanguage? So I could code a little program, that the customers could set up their text to the product und this tool would build a PDF an attach this to the order Email which would build by FM and send to the production-corp.!?

I hope you can understand what I mean/need - sry for my bad english :

Any form of FM web publishing will require FileMaker Server (possibly Advanced) to host the database(s) - there are a number of FM hosting companies, some of which are featured with advertisements on this form, or google for "filemaker hosting"

Ok thank you and how would the order come from the FM-DB on the webserver to the copr.? By Email?

How could they add new products later? Is it possible to build a server-version and a version for the corp. that they can add a product easy?

You are talking about application specific requirements. Please download and read the reference materials available at the FileMaker web site. You can even download the FM Server trial to run for 30 days.

You can do all of this with FM, and FM has the Instant Web Publishing (IWP) feature that makes it relatively easy to put the DB online. However, IWP is not a highly optimized web serving solution, such as what you might get with a good PHP/MySQL implementation. FM's strength is in allowing you to develop a solution quickly and easily. For more complex and large-scale web applications, there are probably better options. I don't know anything about Flex, so I can't comment on that.
