This seems to basic, I am afraid I have overlooked it somehow. My apologies if this is not the right forum toask

I have comptuer indexes in Filemaker which I store the file path so that it can be opened on a web page on the company intranet.

I want to be able to click a button like "Browse" (similar to normal techniques) and find the file on the computer sytems available and then it will store the files path in FM.

Is there some command I am not seeing that allows you to do this?

Thanks in advance

You can insert a file into a container field but keep in mind that unless you use a networked path accessible to others, it wont do any good since it will reference the local path of where the end user selected the file from.

Another option that you may want to take a look at is SuperContainer from 360Works.com

Thanks for the reply. Its not so much the method of storage of the pathway... its the action from which to have the user enter the pathway.

I am sure you have seen web pages where their is a browse button when wanting to load a file. You click the browse button and your prompted by the directory window showing you the comptuer/network paths letting you navigate to the file.

I will take a look at your sugegstions, but really our method of storing the pathway via text field is just fine... I just want to cut down on the errors of typing it in by copy and paste from the explorer window

Thanks again

Again. Take a look at creating a container field and storing the file as a reference. You can have a script use Insert File.
