El_Pablo Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 Hi, I have received an assignment to repair a 10 years old FM solution made by someone who didn't have a clue of what was relationnal database... I attached the PDF representing the form. I know it's in french, but the question here, is what would be the best practice to create the tables and relationship for this kind of checklist? The form has not change for the last 15 years since it is governed by a superior entity. example.pdf
IdealData Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 I have received an assignment to repair a 10 years old FM solution Repair? It depends on what the client is asking you to do.
El_Pablo Posted February 17, 2010 Author Posted February 17, 2010 Repair in the term of improving the relationships between two system. Not repairing a corrupted file. The data in entered from a new system which is which is working well and pretty well formed. The attach form was from an old system. I would like to create a 1-1 relationship with the main report table. Since I don't want to polluate the main report table with fields from a report that are only use in specific case. Is creating each check box separately is the best way? I'm sure it's the fastest way, but not the most maintenable one. I would like to create subcategories, but the problem is ordering the checkboxes. Since I will create a bilingual system, the fields must be in the same order in french and english.
