February 24, 201015 yr Hi there. I am investigating the possibilities of making a database which will contain geographic data (taken from Google maps) and display them in a small window inside FM. Also the ability to select the exact location from within the FM environment woould be great. Does anyone have an idea of the overall implementation for the task?
February 24, 201015 yr Author I am really awful when it comes to web viewer. Can you be more explanatory in details?
February 25, 201015 yr I think I see the problem, when I looked in my application folder for version 10, I don't see the example file that was included in earlier versions. So, if you didn't get this file "Web Viewer Example, it is the available at FileMaker Inc Look down the page for "Kits, Solutions, Examples and References" and click on it, and then click on "Web Viewer example database." HTH Lee [color:red]Update. I sent the file to Ocean West (see his below), and he was able to post it. I will leave my Reply as is, as it has some references that you might find handy. February 25, 201015 yr Author I am really trying to discover the logic behind web viewers functionality. Are there any resources covering the basics but also going deep enough? Is it true that defining a web viewer involves HTML through scripting? Also, is it possible to have only the map portion in a window, defining the coordinates in some kind of variables? How would you set a marker on a map based on values (latitude, longitude)you enter in a field?
February 25, 201015 yr Did you look at the file I had posted by Ocean West? If so, go to maps, go to layout, and see how the Web Viewer is set up. Double click on the Web Viewer, and you wills see the web page calculation, fields used, etc. and this should enlighten you on how it interacts with the page. Also, take some time and review other posts in this topic area. Go to FileMaker Tech and do a search for Web Viewer. Purchase a monthly membership at lydia.com and view their training videos on Web Viewer. HTH Lee
