May 28, 201015 yr Hi -- At some point many months ago I recall trying to figuee out how to share a FMP database on my computer with external users via the "Open Remote" feature. I also tinkered a little with Instant Web publishing. I don't currently need to be sharing any files with people in either (or any other) way. My problem: Whenever I open certain FMP files, I'm greeted by a dialogue box that warns "FileMaker cannot share files because another user is already sharing files using FileMaker Pro on this computer." Then I click "OK" and proceed as normal. How do I get this annoyingthing to stop? Does this mean I have a file somewhere on my computer where I have "Newtwork Sharing" turned ON? Do I have to open and close every FMP file on my hard drive until I find the one that has this option "on"? ) I have dozens of "build" versions of various projects in various folders!). For the record, I'm the only "User" on my computer (an iMac). Also, I don't get this dialogue with all my FMO files, just some of them. Help! This is really slowing me down..
May 28, 201015 yr I get that dialog when I'm running 2 versions of FileMaker. It seems whichever version first launches a database that permits Extended Privileges for networking, it will "seize" network access. For example, using FMA 8.5, I launch a file shared by FMServer, and it opens fine. No problem. I then launch FMA 9.0 and open a local database. If the file has Extended Privileges involving network access, I get that message. The database still opens, but those Extended Privileges are blocked. The only remedy I've found is to restart the computer and open my database under the version I need. Hope it helps
