Beaune Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 I am new to this- but I have created a DB with a container field, gone to>insert>file>iPhoto and selected a photo, it shows in the container field 1001.jpeg, but clicking on it nothing happens. I see the it in the field, I am expecting it to open when clicked on, Any help would be appreciated Mike
Vaughan Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 What do you mean by "open" the image? Do you want it to display a larger version? Or the image open in Preview or Safari or Internet Explorer or some other program? To display a larger version, you'll need to create another layout with the container field bigger, and script that action when the field is clicked. To make the image open in another program you need to export the image to a file, then open the file. This can be scripted too.
bruceR Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 If the image is stored as a reference it will open when clicked.
Beaune Posted June 18, 2010 Author Posted June 18, 2010 Thank you for your help, I have managed to make a document file that I can now put in a picture. It shows as a very small icon or jpeg file. If possible I would like to look at the picture with out saving it to another place so I can see what it is related to that file. Is something like that possible? Having it open in Safari or in preview would also work if that is possible Mike
stefwef Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 My understanding is that there are two ways to contain pictures in fmp: insert picture and insert file. Insert file will show icon of a file (not thumbnail of actual image). Insert picture let you see the picture. Do you want:a thumbnail version that you click on and open in other application, or a thumbnail version that you click on and see in filemaker? I know how to do the latter but someone else will have to give you advice for the former. For latter: You'll need to create a container field to hold the thumbnail, and a different "popup" layout that holds same container field at larger size. Make sure the graphic is set to enlarge keeping proportions. In first layout, create a button to insert the picture so you can always reimport over old image. Assign script to thumbnail container (via format - button) : Go to layout (popup) in NEW WINDOW.
Beaune Posted June 18, 2010 Author Posted June 18, 2010 Thank you for your information, I finally got the a file in the document section, and by trial and error (lots of those) found that double clicking on the icon, opened the file in preview, which is what I was hoping to do Thanks everyone for you help and suggestions Mike
