OS X 10.6 Spotlight-Search in FMP 10-DB

Hello,

is it possible to modify anything on my Mac or in my 20MB Filemaker-Database to make searches via Spotlight finds entries? Any hints? Tips? Scripts?

Thanks

It's not clear to me what you're asking. Do you want a Spotlight search in FM?

Have you looked at FM11's QuickFind feature?

or this technique:

Do a search for "Spotlight" of the Forum, Go to Menu >> Search >> Advance, and you will get several links.

I would start with this one Link

You are showing your current version of 10, is that correct?

Well, I think I know what you're asking for. But your question is not very clearly stated, which is why I think the other answers do not respond to your question.

As I understand it, you are not asking to *imitate* Spotlight features in FileMaker. You are asking to use the real OS Spotlight search; and have it find records in Filemaker (as well as the other apps and sources that Spotlight searches). Perhaps you would even like the function to work whether or not the databases are open, in the same way that Spotlight searches return results for Word documents, whether or not they are open.

The answer is no, you cannot do that. For security reasons, native Spotlight indexing does not and cannot index FileMaker.

As mentioned by the others, you can use FM11 QuickFind or FMSearchResult or similar techniques if you add these features to your FileMaker database(s). You will always need to have the databases open in order to perform your search.
