September 9, 201015 yr How can I tell FM11 to send a hex "07" command to our cash drawer? The cash drawer is connected to a Star TSP100 USB printer. The printer relays the command to the cash drawer via a cable with a 1/8" mini jack. FileMaker Stopped opening our cash drawer after upgrading to FM11 and Snow Leopard 10.6.4. It has worked fine for the past 4 years with FM8 and Tiger 10.4. Edited September 9, 201015 yr by Guest
September 9, 201015 yr Author That's what I am trying to figure out. I wrote the script four years ago and my memory is not so good. I am not seeing anything in the script that looks like it's sending any special code to the printer.
September 10, 201015 yr Author Were you perhaps using a serial plugin such as Troi serial? No plug-in that I can see. I just tried FileMaker 8.5 in SnowLeopard (from the same install that was running for the past few years). It's no longer able to open the cash drawer. I have attached a list on the plug-in that we have been using. I have also included a screen capture of the script that we had been using successfully before upgrading to Snow Leopard.
September 10, 201015 yr Author I have a hunch that the problem is related to how Snow Leopard handles printers as compared to Tiger. All of the printers on each POS were deleted and recreated after upgrading the OS.
September 10, 201015 yr Add to that the fact that 8.5 is not supported under Snow Leopard and is known to have printing related issues under SL. Ditch 8.5.
September 10, 201015 yr Author We're not using 8.5, I just tried a test with to see if it still worked with the cash drawer.
September 10, 201015 yr Author Problem resolved! The solution was found in the print options. That is where the option is located to open the cash drawer. For some reason the previous settings that we had defined broke when we installed the new OS and updated the print drivers.
