I am having a tough time trying to figure out the send mail function in FM 6. I am really new to scripts.

I need to send a copy of a current record in a .pdf format. I have the email address in a field that I also need to pull from this same record.

Any help would be great.

thanks

Filemaker version 6 goes a long way back now so I'm digging deep into my fading memory but here goes:

The ability to make PDFs wasn't incorporated into Filemaker Pro until version 8 so if you're expecting FM to create the PDF natively and you are indeed on FM6, then you're out of luck.

If you're using some other application to create the PDF (Acrobat Distiller perhaps) then I think you should be able to create the PDF and attach it to an email (I think), but you probably won't be able to actually send it. If my memory is correct you could address the message and attach a file but you have to manually press send from your email application.

The quick answer is to go to the print menu for a file in v6 and see if it is an option. I have Adobe Acrobat Professional installed, and I can print to (Save) PDF, with v6, which then can be attached to an email.

However, if you Upgrade to 11 you will also get the new feature of SnapShot. :
