Newbies jelly Posted October 22, 2010 Newbies Posted October 22, 2010 Hi, everyone, I have search lots of posts but still cannot find the one I need. And this is my first post here, I apologize if the question is an easy task. I want to show records in one portal with several fields: "Diagnosis" and "Date." For some reason, I hope when the content of Diagnosis is GS and GA can be seen on the top of the portal and in chronological order. While the rest of the diagnosis show in chronological order. Here's an example of what I want to display: GS 2009/10/12 GA 2010/01/13 XYZ 2007/08/23 DEF 2007/09/24 ABC 2008/05/10 GHI 2009/12/01 But in portal I can only choose to sort by Diagnosis or by Date. Even use the user specify sorting method, I can only change the order of Diagnosis to let GS and GA show on the top of the portal but not in chronological. Is there any solution to this question? Really, really thanks for your help and answer!!! Best, Jelly
bcooney Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 Perhaps if you add a SortOrder field to the child record. SortOrder could be a calc, case( Diagnosis = "GS" ; 1 ; Diagnosis = "GA" ; 2; "99" ) then include SortOrder as the first field in the portal sort, followed by Date.
comment Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 I hope when the content of Diagnosis is GS and GA can be seen on the top of the portal and in chronological order. Did you mean "when the content of Diagnosis is GS [color:red]or GA"? Or is there a preference for all GS'es to come before all GA's?
Newbies jelly Posted October 25, 2010 Author Newbies Posted October 25, 2010 Thank you for your replying. To simplify the question, I want to separate the diagnosis into two groups, one contain "GS" and "GA", and the rest of diagnosis belong to other group. And in each group, display them in a chronological order. Therefore, when it comes to GS and GA, I would like to sort them in chronologically. May I manage a script for the data to show on a portal? Really thanks for your help!!
Newbies jelly Posted October 25, 2010 Author Newbies Posted October 25, 2010 The order for GS and GA is decided according to their diagnosed date.
comment Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 I want to separate the diagnosis into two groups, one contain "GS" and "GA", and the rest of diagnosis belong to other group. Define a calculation field cGroup (result is Number) = Diagnosis = "GS" or Diagnosis = "GA" Sort the portal by cGroup descending and Date ascending.
Newbies jelly Posted October 27, 2010 Author Newbies Posted October 27, 2010 It works perfectly! Thank you so much!! Best, Jelly
