Stickybeak Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 I would like to nest my various related databases within the frame of the central database so they dont go hiding on other parts of my screen. Is there any way of doing this?
Vaughan Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 First, consider the way windows are handled on Macs and PCs. There are significant fundamental differences. Second, windows are under the control of the user. As developer you can control the initial position of windows, but ultimately the user will do with them as they wish. As developer you can also re-position windows at various times, but as a user I don't like things moving around by themselves.

Vaughan Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 I am both the "developer" (Im not a programmer Im a lawyer) and the only user That's how most FMP database builders start out. I think that's good. : However you need to start thinking about *other* people using the database, and about what is in their control (or should be) and what is in your control (or should be). This includes things like the toolbar and the windows.
Rick Whitelaw Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 I agree with Vaughan. Even though I'm fairly certain I will be the only person using my solution, I try to design everything like menus and help files etc. as if many others may use it in the future. Who knows? I may be developing something that not only saves me ten or twelve hours per week (i.e. paying for itself) but also something I could profit from later. RW
