Vaughan Posted November 13, 2000 Posted November 13, 2000 A bit more info... are ther accessing a shared database over a network, on a server? Specifically what version of FMP3 are they using? Even better, as you check each and every user's copy of FMP upgrade them to the latest FMP 3.0v6 the patch is available for free from http://www.filemaker.com/ follow the link to updaters. Any version before 3.0v6 is not Y2K compliant anyway...
Newbies Karen Johnson Posted November 13, 2000 Newbies Posted November 13, 2000 It is a database that is shared over the network via FMPRO Server. I was using version 3.0.5 I will download the 3.0.6 now and see if that makes a difference. Thanks Karen
Newbies Karen Johnson Posted November 14, 2000 Newbies Posted November 14, 2000 In FMPRO 3.0 (Windows version) certain computers are having problems changing layouts. On some computers we switch the settings in Windows properties to a higher resolution and then we are able to change to another layout. But on other computers this change does not effect the layout button. Does anyone have a fix for this? Thanks Karen
Newbies Karen Johnson Posted December 5, 2000 Newbies Posted December 5, 2000 I installed the version 3.0.6 and that did not make a difference. The databases are shared on FMPRO server. And it doesn't seem to matter how big or small the users monitor is - some are 15" and some are 19". We still have to go to windows properties and increase the resolution.
Vaughan Posted December 7, 2000 Author Posted December 7, 2000 There are two programs you need to update: the server and the *client* which is the copy of FileMaker Pro on each machine that is connecting to the shared database. Make sure each client machine is updated as well. It is quite possible that FileMaker Pro 3 Windows cannot handle screen resolution changes while it is running -- FMP3 is pretty old after all and it came out about the same time as Win95 if I remember correctly. This might be the case, if so I can only advise that if screen resolution nees to be changed exit FMP client, make the change then restart it again.
