TCP/IP database sharing and port number

Featured Replies

I want to share some of my databases over TCP/IP through filemaker. Some of these databases are shared with web companion, others are not. These other databases I would like to view in filemaker from a remote machine. The problem is that I am using a single IP address from a cable modem which goes through a router to share that IP with all of the machines. My web servers and everything else gets shared out to the web through port mapping. I cannot find anywhere the port that Filemaker TCP/IP database sharing uses. Anyone know this port number? or numbers? Please help!

select editpreferencesweb companionconfigure

the port is selected here, normally 80, but FMP Inc has also registered 590 and 591, (I beleive)

That controls the web companion port number. I already know that. What I really want is the port for sharing databases via TCP/IP. Like when you select "Open" and click the hosts button and type in an IP address. This is the port number I want. I cannot find it anywhere either!

After I quit being lazy and downloaded a whole bunch of network tools, ive done some pretty extensive data monitoring, pinging, etc and have found that FileMaker keeps listening on port 5003. Can anyone confirm this? I'm going to try it tomorrow...
