jim shelton Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 We have a solution in FM 11 hosted by FM Server (switching to FM Server Advanced soon). Outside contactors need access to DB to view, edit data and view documents and upload new documents. Some have iphone, some have blackberry, some with other smart phones and many carry laptops. How should we approach this endeavor? Should we create second set of layouts setup for phone usage? thanks, Jim
IdealData Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 A separate set of layouts will be essential as your existing desktop based layouts will be inevitably too large and complex. Whilst I can see you might use FM Go on the iPhones, I'm not sure what you will use on the Blackberry or others.
BrentHedden Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 I'm looking into the same issue. Most of our sales/engineers have Blackberries. If any of them have IPhones and/or IPads, then it's something that they bought on their own. Unless my company is willing to switch everyone over to IPhones (unlikely), the only feasible way I can see this working is having a web interface. Possibly can use IWP, but either way a lot of work will have to go into redesigning the layouts to fit on a mobile device.
