Newbies centelec Posted January 11, 2001 Newbies Posted January 11, 2001 Have Filemaker 4 and have bound a solution for commerial sales. Am ready to release an updated version which will allow users to change layouts and define new fields. During binding, I am not checking "Permanently remove access to Define Fields, Define Relationships, Scriptmaker, and Access Privileges" yet they are not available on the outputed bound soultion. I have removed all passwords from the document preferences before binding. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Bob
MpWiedemann Posted January 11, 2001 Posted January 11, 2001 Hi Bob, Filemaker Developer's edition will not create a solution that has the capability to define fields and/or design layouts. The only way to do that is for your users to run a copy of Filemaker. Would be nice if it did! Removing access to define fields, scripts and layouts only removes those items when your bound files are opened in Filemaker and not the runtime engine. Sorry, Martin [This message has been edited by mwiedemann (edited January 11, 2001).]
Newbies centelec Posted January 12, 2001 Author Newbies Posted January 12, 2001 Thanks Martin. I thought I was going crazy. So I need to tell the customer to load the solution via the CD-ROM and then with his own copy of Filemaker, open the "menu" file in the solution folder. Not the .exe runtime file? Any chance of this being changed in a future developer edition, or at least the option added? Maybe I should contact them with the suggestion! Thanks again. Bob
