Was thinking it would be nice to have a way to mark a response in a thread as a Solution. Basically making it easier to find answers to questions already asked before in the past.

A good example is here where Ron answered and gave the solution to his original question in the thread. Would be nice to mark that as the solution.

Based on my short experience in another forum: too often, inexperienced posters mark the wrong post as "the solution". It's not that they mark the wrong post by mistake (although that happens, too) - they just don't have the skills to make a judgment.

although its a feature that does have some merit - comment is correct that it is somewhat a hard one to solve or leave it solely in one users hand (topic starter) - not without a designated forum curator to validate them as such.

with FMP there are many ways to accomplish the same goal, so marking a post as solved, can eliminate or invalidate any such claim when a more elegant / suitable / compact / method becomes available.

I am keeping an eye on different 'mods' and enhancements for the forums - if I come across something that makes sense then I will add that.
