Newbies markgryn Posted January 14, 2002 Newbies Posted January 14, 2002 I have inherited a FileMaker Pro 4.0v1 application. Unfortunately it comes with no documentation for FileMaker or the application. I made a change to the application and need to update the user's .EXE file, however I cannot for the life of me figure out how to create the .EXE (runtime?) file for the user. Could someone please give me a quick rundown on how to create this runtime file in FileMaker Pro 4.0v1? Or let me know what software I need to buy to get this going. Thanks .mark.
Steven H. Blackwell Posted January 14, 2002 Posted January 14, 2002 To create a runtime executable for FileMaker Pro 4.0vx (and BTW, 4.0v3 was the last rev) you need the FileMaker 4 Developer Tool. It is not available any longer, as it is several versions old. What you can do is to make the changes in the BOUND files using FileMaker Pro 4.0v3. Those changes will be reflected when the file is opened with the runtime engine, providing they were not v2 or v3 features. You need to use the later version of the Developer tool to do this. An alternative of course is to convert to FileMAker Pro 5.5. A word of caution; FMP 4.0v1 files may have experienced corruption, and that will be much more noticeable in 5.5. Old Advance Man
Newbies markgryn Posted January 15, 2002 Author Newbies Posted January 15, 2002 Thanks that was just the information I needed. I opened up the .zoo file that was in the same directory as the .EXE and was able to make the changes. cheers .mark.
