After years of happy use I have encountered my first serious problem with a file and with FM Pro 4.1v3. Kept randomly crashing with Type 11, 2 etc. Finally got message that the file could not be opened and had to use recover command. Works for awhile but after adding 5 to 10 more records get a crash and then need to repeat the recovery. Tried to import recovered records into a clone but problem re-occured. Any suggestions? Would upgrade to FM 5 help?

I had a similar problem. I got a new Gateway computer and installed everything I had before. Ran Filemaker Pro 4.1 with no problems for awhile, but then began crashing for no apparent reason. Eventually narrowed it down to a Seiko Smart Label Printer, which I had been using for years. Once I uninstalled that, everything was peachy, although I couldn't print labels individually anymore! All printer drivers are under suspicion, in your case. Try removing them and see what happens.
