Layout and Fields Dont print Correctly in Windows

Featured Replies

I have layouts that look perfect and print perfect on my Mac but when I use the same layout on my Windows 98 machine the fields are not lined up and if doesnt print correctly.

Can this be fixed?

This is a word document that I copied the text and pasted it.

Could the cells in the word document be the cause of this problem?

First of all Macintosh and Windows operating systems render fonts differently, secondly the EXACT same fonts are not generally used on both platforms.

While it is possible to get fonts that are truely cross-platform (MS released some that we, mainly for web application but they work for anything) it is usually not worth the effort. I suggest sticking with the basic fonts (Arial or Helvetica) as they are the most consistant.

The rendering of fonts on screen and to printers is a bigger problem and can generally be solved by allowing a bit more space around your text for the font differences.

Now if you have some layouts that requires EXACT placement of the text, you are pretty much screwed. You will need to make seperate layouts for MacOS and Windows. You will also find that Laser and Inkjet printers are different and generally require seperate layouts as well.

The problem is with printers. If you use good Postscript printer in Windows, it usually looks the same like in Mac. smile.gif" border="0

Even if you use Win Fonts and large spacing, you will get different result in different Win printers. frown.gif" border="0
