Don_Macaroni Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Hope I'm in the right place here... I have a person and company table. Within the person layout I have a portal which displays the persons that are related to that company, clickable to easily edit that person without changing layouts. Very nice btw. But it also displays the current record (which is logical). What I want is all related persons within the company of the selected person, minus the current record. Suggestions welcome.
LaRetta Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 What I want is all related persons within the company of the selected person, minus the current record. Hi Don, In the relationship graph, add PersonID to both sides but use the <>. :^)
Don_Macaroni Posted September 21, 2011 Author Posted September 21, 2011 I used the "<"... But why does this work? Logically I have the "Company record ID" linked so only records within the same company are displayed, which of coarse works. But why if "person record ID" 'is smaller than' "person record ID" would it display all but itself? I know it works, but I don't see the logic, please explain... Oh and thanks! :-)
LaRetta Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 You use the 'not equal' sign and not the 'less than' sign. I was lazy and typed the old symbol <> for not equal. In FileMaker, it's actually now ≠
Don_Macaroni Posted September 21, 2011 Author Posted September 21, 2011 Hmm, just discovered it doesn't work :-( Only in the 'middle' of my 23 records it does. For example John, Paul and Richard work for the same company. When in John's record, only Richard shows up. When in Paul's record, both John and Richard show up (correct). When in Richard's record, nobody shows up... You write use "<>" but this is not possible, can only select either "<" or ">". Let me know... *** Hahaha, now were talking... didn't see your reply. Thanks, this makes it work! And explains the logic...
