specify Preview mode different from Layout?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I usually don't deal with printing issues, and am very new to them. Is there any way to specify only a subset of objects to print out?

I other words, can I script or specify otherwise for only scertain objects on the layout to be printed out? I don't want to rearrange the whole layout, so that several objects will fit on the page.

Thank you in advance

The Sliding/Printing... menu item allows you to define objects as "do not print".

Oak, thanks for your responce.

I realize that I can use Sliding/Printing option.

That doesn't help me though. When I specify the objects not to print, the rest don't slide to take their place, they just stay where they are.

When I specify in the print setup to shrink the print to say 60%, this just makes the print out smaller, but still not all objects fit on the page. Is there a way to make the layout "Fit the Page"?

Why don't you just duplicate the layout and remove the unwanted fields and move the other fields over? Then make a script to print the new layout.

pieces, you're right, but I wanted to avoid that. There are already 60-70 layouts in this database, and I was reluctant to duplicate them.

I ended up doing it anyway, because I didn't see any other way. I'd still like to know if it's possible to shrink it, though, if anyone out there has that knowledge.

Thanks for the advise.

Biking days are here again!

You have to mark the nonprinting items to slide also.

Dan, unfortunately they are in the header and for that reason body will not slide upwards. I could probably delete the header, and paste them in the body, since this layout is viewed in form only. Still, I fear there will not be enouph shrinkage to fit the body on one page. Oh-well..
