jdu98a Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Has anyone ever tried opening a FM database from within a Dropbox folder? I'm asking about this simply for developmental use. I want a database that I'm currently developing at work to be accessible from home. I simply don't trust myself to remember to always drop it in the folder at the end of each day. The file would NOT be used under any kind of multi-user state. It would just be me opening it and working on it. Are there risks or performance issues in doing this?

Fitch Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 In the scenario you describe Dropbox works fine. You still have to remember to close the file though! And make sure the sync has finished before you start working in the file!
jdu98a Posted October 28, 2011 Author Posted October 28, 2011 For anyone wondering, after using Dropbox in this manner for a couple weeks I have run into one small issue. That being, the Dropbox cache. Dropbox updates files literally every time there is a change. The result of this is that the cache folders on my other Dropbox client computers has grown to over 14GB, yikes! It's an easy fix of simply going through and deleting the contents of the cache folder, but it is something to keep an eye on if you try using it with FM in this way.
