Layout Scenario... Is It Possible...

Featured Replies

Hey Guys,

I think i know the answer to this already, but if it is no, just wondered if you had any alternatives.

Basically my clients want to convert the excel sheet they have into a layout on filemaker, or an export to excel.

It is an availability sheet for staff.

So there is a table called availability, which has a row per date per member of staff. The staff is referenced by another table via an id. Each date has three shifts the staff can select as available and not available.

The report the client wants produced, is to have staff names down the sides (row per staff) and have the next 7 days across the top broken down into the three shifts. So top would read Mon Shift 1, Mon Shift 2, Mon Shift 3 etc. They need to have it across like this so they can see if someone is available to do a week shift for example.

I cannot seem to find away in manipulating the data for it to appear in this way.

Wondered if any of you guys could help?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,

Dan

You could use 7 one-row portals to the Availability table, placed on a list layout of Staff. Filter each portal to show only records from the corresponding date.

Thanks, works a treat! It's always something so simple!
