Charity Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 If I show the Formatting Bar so people can see the bold, italic, underline, it works but it does not show all of the formatting listed in the menu, such as style. Why not? There is space for Style and all formatting options to fit across the status bar. Am I missing something obvious? Surely FM did not include Bold, Italic and underline but then forget everything else. I keep looking for the hidden button to show them.
Vaughan Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 Surely FM did not include Bold, Italic and underline but then forget everything else. They did forget.
Fitch Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 They didn't necessarily forget. The icons in the formatting bar are consistent with the Inspector for one thing, and IMO including every style icon might make the formatting bar too cluttered. But why did they remove ALL font formatting from the right-click contextual menu in Layout mode? That makes no sense to me. Another peeve is putting the font menu right under the layout menu, it's too easy to click on the wrong one.
Charity Posted December 7, 2011 Author Posted December 7, 2011 I want this for the people using it in browse. Fitch said, "The icons in the formatting bar are consistent with the Inspector for one thing" . Not sure I understand. Users can't see or use inspector anyway. As for 'consistency' well, inspector DOES have a Styles popup. Adding a single popup on that text formatting bar would be no brainer. Vaughan, I agree. They either forgot or did not flesh out their requirements properly. It is like they dropped their thought right in the middle of it. Thank you both for answering me. I appreciate you taking your time.
comment Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Does your word processor provide buttons for Double Underline or Small Caps?
Charity Posted December 7, 2011 Author Posted December 7, 2011 Hello Comment, MS Word allows user to put different buttons on their toolbar. But I just checked and I do not believe double underline or small caps are button options. I figure I will have to do my own formatting buttons. No sense using the Formatting bar for some of them and my buttons for the rest, right?
