Changing text color in a cell

Featured Replies

I have two data bases both are set to have black the standard color of any text,

in one the text in selected cells, can be colored, black to red act, in that data base I can highlight the cell and

change the color of any of the text and it remains that color when I click out of that cell

In the second data base if I highlight a cell and change the color when I leave the cell the color changes back to black

when I go back to the cell the color changes back to the chosen color.

I have tried to compare the preference settings, tried changing Text under the Format

Some suggestions please

It sounds like the field that reverts has conditional formatting applied. While the field is active, the conditional formatting cannot be evaluated, and the field reflects your changes. When the field is inactive, the conditional calculation is evaluated and sets the field back to the color defined by the calculation.

In Layout mode, select the field, and select Conditional... from the Format menu.

thanks for your help, but this does not seem to do anything about being able to change the text color, I have compared the 2 data bases and they both seem

to have the same settings.

Can you zip your file and post it here? Or if it contains sensitive data, make a clone and enter some sample data (2 or 3 records, with data in the fields that generate the problem), and zip and upload it.

It appears to me that the layout may be corrupted. I observed the OP's problem. I noticed that it only occurred in Table View, but the underlying fields in List or Form views worked properly. I created a new layout, added the fields, and deleted the original layout. The problem went away.

thank you very much for your help, I will start a new data base and from there

You don't need to rebuild the database, just add a layout with the same fields as the current layout. (Just don't use the Duplicate Layout item in the Layouts menu; start with New Layout)
