Wickerman Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 There must be something simple I'm missing, but I'm importing data from a bunch of Excel spreadsheets whose column headers *do* match my Filemaker field names -- bt when I open up the 'Import Field Mapping' panel, the "matching names" option in the "Arrange by:" menu is greyed out. What a drag! Why wouldn't this option be allowed? While I'm here -- is there any way to shove an entire selected column of target fields up or down by one or two rows? Sometimes I have like 50 fields, and due to some discrepancy, they are uniformly mismatched by a few lines from their identically-ordered source fields. I always seem to have to go through and re-align every single field, because when you drag a field into place it swaps places with the one that was there. Surely there's a simple technique I'm missing here? (But the matching fields question would solve 95% of the problem).
dsghs Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 At the bottom of the Import Field Mapping window, make sure the "Don't import first record (contains field names)" option is checked. Then you should be able to select matching names.
