April 17, 201213 yr I'm a single at-home user of FileMaker Pro (for personal files), but have been using it for several years since version 7, and have been using version 10.0v3 since 2009. It's worked fine for me (served my needs) and I haven't felt any need to upgrade to later versions. HOWEVER, a procedure that used to work for me in the past suddenly no longer works! I have a script that creates a tabular report which I then export to .xls (Excel format spreadsheet) for further processing using another script. It's worked in the past, but now I'm getting the error message "Some of the files that are needed are either damaged or have not been installed. Please run the installer to correct the problem". I only do this process once per year, so I'm rather stunned why it's now balking. The first script works fine and produces the tabular set of data I wish to export. But when I try to export it, I get that error message. I have no idea what files it's talking about, but I reran the installer anyway (from DVD) and it went through the process of installing thousands of items with "successful" completion. When I checked the Applications folder afterwards (I'm using a Mac with OSX10.7.3) the only item that showed today's date was the Extension folder. All other items showed older dates, so I assumed it must have installed the "needed" files. When I reopened my database and tried my export task again, I got the same error message. I haven't changed the database structure or scripts since my last successful export (which was a year ago). I'd appreciate any suggestions to get around this roadblock. Should I have deleted the entire Filemaker applications folder before reinstalling it from DVD?_____ I assumed it would either write-over or ignore any existing files, and add those that were missing. Thanks
April 17, 201213 yr This is due to the fact you upgraded to OSX Lion and Apple has removed support for Rosetta which was required for xls files. Change your export settings to export as XLSX the new file format supported. http://help.filemaker.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9901/kw/xls%20lion/session/L3RpbWUvMTMzNDY0Nzg5MS9zaWQvNllObHRSVms%3D
