April 24, 201213 yr Anyone know if there is any different limitations on server-side scripting for this version of server (ie allowing save as pdf)? I've got a few looping robots on a few machines and it looks like I'm going to have to buy a few fms 12 and fms 12 adv licenses since I use two separate instances on each robot machine (2 full-time looping scripts) and fm 11 won't connect to fms 12. This upgrade is getting expensive...
April 24, 201213 yr Author Answered my question, at least in regards to "save as pdf" no. still not possible via server-side scripting in FM12 :(
April 24, 201213 yr Author can you explain why you think you need multiple FMS boxes? Sure, but I only have one server. I need two clients running on a different robot machine. My solution is accessed by two ways (only): Filemaker Go and IWP. The IWP part creates a record whenever a report needs to be generated into a pdf and saves it on the machine's webserver. The user clicks on the link, is taken to a redirect page making him wait 1 second, then a webviewer displays the pdf where he can download, print, etc. Also, the program can create a request to email a report to an email address. FM Client 1: Generates PDFs via a looped script that finds records that are marked and saves as pdf (find request loop repeats every .5 seconds). FM Client 2: Generates PDF via a looped script that finds records that are marked and emails said PDF via SMTP server. (find request loop repeats every 10 seconds) I can't put anything else in with the IWP PDF gen script because the user is only waiting a second or so and each email takes a couple seconds to generate and send. So I need two clients running two robot scripts.
April 25, 201213 yr I'll ask the same as Wim - why multiple FMS (SERVER!) boxes? it looks like I'm going to have to buy a few fms 12 and fms 12 adv licenses Don't you mean FMP licenses? Those are your CLIENTS.
April 26, 201213 yr Author Yep. typo, see above. I'll ask the same as Wim - why multiple FMS (SERVER!) boxes? Don't you mean FMP licenses? Those are your CLIENTS.
