robinpow Posted September 9, 2001 Posted September 9, 2001 I've been a Mac person for many years, however only as an end user. Well I have a chance to make the jump, and while it's still early in the game, I want to start learning the basics of running a server. My customer is 100% Windows, I'm 99.9% Mac so I picked FM to handle the data base. I know that I can use a Mac server to drive this project, however need to learn the "ins and outs". Would love some suggestions to good books and or websites. Thanks!
LiveOak Posted September 9, 2001 Posted September 9, 2001 Once again, most of the good information fall under the category of "Tricks of the Trade" and won't be found in any books or on websites. We have a lot of experience with Mac FM Servers. Either post back, email, or give a call and we'll share it with you! This is the sort of information that is obsolete by the time it could make it into a book. Brent Dussia Live Oak Systems 760-728-7046 [email protected] -bd
Anatoli Posted September 9, 2001 Posted September 9, 2001 If somebody will configure NT4 server (or workstation) with service pack, then to install FM server is just easy, as on Mac and FM will be running faster, than on MacOS. But to configure NT server, is approximately 20 - 100 times more difficult, than to configure MacOS server.

Well MacOS X has increased the complexity level up there near NT, but earlier versions certainly are easier.
