Calculation to know when field is selected

Featured Replies

I have a text field with a vertical scroll bar with an excess of text in each record due to limited layout space.

I'm not sure the user will know to click inside the field in order to bring up the vertical scroll bar drop-down arrow. Is there a way to make this Arrow permanent?

Or alternatively, I could make a tool tip that says "Click inside the text box to scroll" but how could I create a calculaiton as part of the tool tip that takes away that message once the user has clicked inside the text field?

Thanks so much for the heads up.

In Inspector > Data tab, you can check 'include vertical scroll bar.' :^)

Maria, I believe I misunderstood your need - if you already have the vertical scroll on the field but it does not show then it means a few possible things:

In INspector > Appearance, be sure point thickness is not 0. Be sure line color is dark enough to show and be sure that line is not set to transparent. And also make sure that the line is set to display at least on the right side by making sure the line 'box' is indented (showing it will produce line on right side at least). :wink3:

The tool tip already disappears when you click in the field although it returns if the mouse moves away and back again.
