Re-booting my LAN FM Server

Featured Replies

Hi

Can anyone recommend a good hardware / software solution for scheduling my G4 FMServers to reboot, or is the energy saver control panel good enough?:?

Thanks in advance

You'll need to AppleScript the closing of FM Server as it pauses with a dialog box if forced to quit otherwise.

Should work fine.

But why do it :

I have an FM Server (G3 450) which runs 24/7, and hasn't crashed for months.

Incidentally, I once read about an obscure bug that only manifested after more than 18 months continuous operation.

We use Kickoff. It is a hardware solution that provides a forced restart if a watchdog timer times out, logging of software activity, and a scheduled restart, if you wish. We have used Kickoff at two facilities and 8 machines for a couple of years. It's produced by Sophisticated Circuits, an absolutely terrific company. www.sophisticated.com.

They also produce PowerKey (power control with logging and scripting) and Rebound (same as above for ADB machines).
