I've got a total of a count displayed in the header field.

The calculation appears correctly, ut does not display the when I first enter the layout.

The odd thing is that when I go to Manage Database, click on the field in question (to try and rectify the problem), and then return to the layout, the number appears!

Can any one explain what is going on, and how I might fix this problem?

Shot in the dark here. If you go to the properties of the filed and then storage options. Make sure that you do not store the values of the calculation.

Ditto for the unstored calculation suggestion, but the problem could also be that the field is on the header part.

Strange things happen in headers and footers because they belong to the first and last record in the found set respectively (and in preview mode, the first and last record of the current page).

Try making a leading grand summary and putting the calculation field on this.

Why don't you post a simple file showing the problem?
