Will B. Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 What happens if a sync is interrupted? Are there safeguards in place to ensure that the user knows the sync wasn't completed successfully? Thanks, WIll
Agnes Riley Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 What sync are you referring to? What platform, what data?
Will B. Posted July 4, 2012 Author Posted July 4, 2012 When syncing there is always the risk of an interruption. You could start the sync while you are driving, but during the sync you lose the internet connection so the sync couldn't be completed. That is just one scenario but there are innumerable others. I'd like to know if MirrorSync is aware if a sync is not completed successfully. Suppose you are syncing an invoice with various line items. Will MirrorSync know if all the invoice line items were received and synced correctly?
Jesse Barnum Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 MirrorSync is not 'transactional' in the strictest sense. If the connection is dropped during a sync, it is possible for records from one table to be written to the server, while records from another related table may not be written. However, MirrorSync keeps track of which records have been written and which ones have not, and it will resume from where it was on the next sync and complete everything as if the first sync had finished. If a record on the server cannot be written because it is being edited, the offline user will get a warning error message telling them this. MirrorSync will continue to retry that edit operation each time the sync script is run.
